HOW TO CHOOSE A FISHING KAYAK

By combining our knowledge and passion for building watercraft with our love of fishing, we’ve pioneered fishing kayaks worthy of the Old Town legacy. These kayaks are specially designed with the features that every angler craves, while retaining the quality put into every watercraft we build. These aren’t just kayaks you can fish from. TRANSPORT

Take into consideration how you intend to transport your fishing kayak. If you plan on car topping, you may want a lighter kayak (though there are lift-assist solutions on the market that make car topping a larger kayak a breeze). If you have a truck or a trailer, hull size and weight may be less of a deciding factor for you.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
DIMENSIONS MATTER

Length & Width: The length of a kayak determines speed and maneuverability. A shorter kayak will turn quickly, and longer kayaks will cut through the water with more efficiency. Additionally, a wider hull offers more stability while you’re fishing.

Weight: Heavier kayaks offer increased durability and strength, while kayaks with a lighter weight are easier to store and transport.

Maximum Capacity: A greater weight capacity allows you to carry more gear. It’s also important to account for the combined weight of both you and your cargo when choosing a kayak.
